Holders
With so much time dedicated to getting our Big Mama Computer operational last week, there was not a lot of art time. However, I did manage to do something fun with recycled cardboard coffee sleeves. You know . . . . the little sleeve that fits snugly over a purchased cup of java to protect you from the heat. When decorated and embellished, they make amazing little gift card holders . . . and . . . the price is right.
I began by coating the outside of each sleeve with gesso, and applied layers of acrylic paints, painted a few polka dots and used Stazon ink to stamp "4 You".
After sewing zig-zag stitches around three sides of each holder, I punched a few holes in the bottom and added some pretty fibers for pizzazz.
And there you have it -- perfect little gift card sleeves created just in time for graduations, birthdays and celebrations. Best of all . . . . they're recycled!
"Big Mama Update"
Thank you, thank you for all of the encouraging and sympathetic comments left on my last post regarding our computer. "Big Mama" is up and running thanks to my son's expertise. It's been a grueling week of trying to get everything back to normal, but we're 90% of the way and finally operational. Thanks to a portable hard drive, a laptop and a thumb drive, I didn't loose my files. Please remember to back up your work. You'll save yourself from a ton of grief and regret.
